There are four obtainable energy items
Energy (⚡) is a resource essential for cutting down trees, clearing rocks, and opening toolboxes in Farm Merge Valley. These obstructions require multiple stages to fully remove, with the total number of increments dependent on the tier of the obstruction. After each stage, resources are gained[1]and placed on the farm if space is available. The Energy cost and time needed to complete each step increase with each incremental stage.
Energy automatically regenerates at a rate of 1 energy per 3 minutes, up to a maximum of 50 energy. This limit can be exceeded when collecting energy by other means, such as visiting other farms when the player has less than 50 energy and by levelling up. Also, 5 additional energies can be obtained for free every four hours, with higher amounts purchasable at any time using Gems. Energy items can be earned from Reward Chests and are present in some tracts of Premium Land. Like other items, energy items can be merged to produce higher ranks of energy that give energy when consumed. There are four ranks of obtainable energy items, providing 10, 30, 90, and 270 energy. While merging energy provides an opportunity to gain extra energy through Merge Fives and Lucky Merges, this is typically inefficient due to the infrequency with which energy items are obtained.
However, because the player passively gains 1 Energy every 3 minutes (if below 50 Energy), the player automatically gains some Energy back over time while extracting resources. Since the Energy and time costs associated with each step does not scale equally, this results in the intermediate steps ultimately costing more Energy than the higher steps assuming Gems are not used.
For example, the 10th stage (the final stage for Tree-3, Rock-3, and Toolbox-3) requires 50 Energy, but since the 10th stage takes 2 hours to complete, the player gains 40 Energy during that time, resulting in a net loss of only 10 Energy. In contrast, the 5th stage (the final stage for the second tier of obstructions) requires 25 Energy with the player passively gaining just 2.8 Energy in the 25 minutes it takes for the stage to complete, ultimately leaving the player with 22.2 less Energy.
Accounting for the energy gained, it takes at least 30 energy to start and finish removing a Tier 1 obstacle, 73 to remove a Tier 2 obstacle, and 251 to start and finish removing a Tier 3 obstacle.

- ↑ Wood from trees, stone from rocks, and tools from toolboxes
- ↑ Time needed to complete this stage, ignoring the free 30-second skip
- ↑ The amount of Energy needed upfront to remove the obstruction at the corresponding stage
- ↑ The amount of Energy passively gained while waiting for a worker to finish the corresponding stage. This does not account for other methods of gaining Energy.
- ↑ The change in Energy between starting and finishing the corresponding stage
